Daily use · End customer

Daily use of the lock

Four ways to open the E15 lock. Fingerprint is the most commonly used, but they all work independently.

Open with fingerprint

  1. Touch or wake the lock. Place the registered finger on the fingerprint reader.

  2. Wait for verification. If the fingerprint matches, turn the handle to open.

Open with password

  1. Touch the touch panel. Enter the registered password.

  2. Confirm with #. Once approved, turn the handle to open.

Open with IC card

  1. Wake the panel. Bring the registered IC card near the reading area.

  2. Open the door. Once validated, turn the handle.

Open with mechanical key

  1. Use the backup key. Use it when the lock can’t open via electronic methods.

  2. Store it outside the apartment. It should be available for emergencies.

Incorrect attempts: in standard mode, the system enters lockout if the user fails verification 5 times within 5 minutes. The lock will beep intermittently and the LED will flash red. Wait the indicated time or open with the mechanical key.
Demo mode: in this mode, any fingerprint, password or card can open the door. An administrator must be configured to use the lock securely.

Part 2 — Smart Life App (Tuya)

Visual guide to installing the app, creating your account, creating your apartment’s home in Panama, adding the E15 lock, inviting members and generating temporary codes for your guests.

← Back to index

Smart Life · Step 1 of 5

How to create my Smart Life account

Before linking the lock, each person needs their own Smart Life (or Tuya Smart) account. You only need to do this once — the same account is used going forward.

Download the app

  1. Open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).

  2. Search for Smart Life (or Tuya Smart — it’s equivalent).

  3. Install and open the app.

Register your account

  1. On the home screen, tap Sign up.

  2. Accept the privacy policy.

  3. Select country: Panama. ⚠️ Very important — this sets your server and can’t be changed later without deleting the account.

  4. Enter your email or phone number and tap Get verification code.

  5. Enter the verification code sent by email or SMS.

  6. Create a password of 6 to 20 characters (letters + numbers).

  7. Done — the app opens on the main screen.

Country must be Panama so that all users of the same apartment can share the home and devices. If you choose a different country, the app isolates you on a different server and you won’t see invitations.
← Back to index

Smart Life · Step 2 of 5

How to create the apartment’s home (Panama)

A «Home» in Smart Life represents a physical space — a house, apartment or Airbnb — to which you’ll associate locks, cameras, lights, etc. Any user you invite later will only see the devices in that home.

Create the home step by step

  1. Open Smart Life and tap the Me tab (bottom right corner).

  2. Go to Home Management.

  3. Tap Create home.

  4. Home name: write something descriptive, for example «Apartment 501 · Costa del Este» or «Punta Pacífica Airbnb».

  5. Home location: tap Set and choose it on the map. Country/Region: Panama. ⚠️ Essential — this is what allows you and your guests to share the home without issues.

  6. Rooms: check the ones that apply (Living Room, Kitchen, Bedroom, Entrance, etc.). You can add «Main Entrance» for the E15 lock.

  7. Tap Save (top right corner).

  8. Done — the home appears as the active tab on the main screen.

Service Home Tech tip: if you manage several apartments (e.g. a building or several Airbnb units), create one home per apartment. That way devices and guests stay separate and access doesn’t cross over.
← Back to index

Smart Life · Step 3 of 5

How to add the E15 lock to the home

With the home created, we can now link the lock. The E15 connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi — make sure you have the apartment’s network password handy.

Before you start

  • The phone must be connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (not 5 GHz).
  • Have the Wi-Fi name and password handy.
  • Be close to the lock (less than 3 meters).
  • The lock must have an administrator registered (see the Initial setup section).

Put the lock into pairing mode

  1. On the lock, touch the touch panel.

  2. Double-click # → master mode.

  3. Verify as administrator (fingerprint or password).

  4. Press 3 → network settings.

  5. Choose pairing mode. The lock will blink, waiting for a connection.

Add the device from Smart Life

  1. Open Smart Life in the correct home (the apartment name should appear top left).

  2. On the main screen, tap the + button top right → Add device.

  3. In the left-side menu, tap Camera & Lock → Lock (Wi-Fi) or Smart Lock (Wi-Fi).

  4. If the app detects the lock automatically, tap Add. If not, check the box «Confirm the indicator is blinking rapidly» and tap Next.

  5. Choose the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the Wi-Fi password. Tap Next.

  6. Wait for the progress bar to reach 100% (about 30–90 seconds). The lock will beep when it connects.

  7. When «Added successfully» appears, tap the ✏️ to rename the lock (e.g. «Apt 501 Entrance»).

  8. Assign the «Main Entrance» room and tap Done.

  9. The lock now appears on the home’s main screen.

Not connecting? Verify the network is 2.4 GHz (not 5 GHz), that the password is typed correctly, and that the lock is still blinking. If it stopped blinking, repeat the pairing mode from the panel. It also helps to turn your phone’s Wi-Fi off and back on.
If the lock is already connected and you need to re-link it (e.g. Wi-Fi network change): it’s best to remove it from the app while it’s still connected, rather than resetting it from the panel. It will confirm it’s free, and you can add it again as a new device following the steps above.
← Back to index

Smart Life · Step 4 of 5

How to add new users to the apartment

So that other people in the apartment (partner, family, staff, business partners) can open the lock from their own phone, you need to invite them to the home. Each person must first have their own Smart Life account in Panama.

Requirement: the user you invite must first create a Smart Life account in Panama (see Step 1 · Create my account). If their account is in a different country, the invitation won’t arrive.

Invite a new member

  1. Open Smart Life and tap the Me tab (bottom right corner).

  2. Go to Home Management.

  3. Tap the apartment’s home where the lock lives (e.g. «Apartment 501»).

  4. Scroll down to Home Members and tap Add Members.

  5. Choose App Account (recommended — invitation by email or phone).

  6. Name: enter the member’s visible name.

  7. Country/Region: Panama. (⚠️ must match the country where the guest created their account.)

  8. Account: enter the exact email or phone number the guest used to register with Smart Life.

  9. Family role:
    • Administrator: can add/remove members and devices.
    • Common member: can only use the devices.

  10. Tap Save (top right corner).

  11. The guest receives a notification in their app. They should open Smart Life → Me → Home Management and accept the invitation.

Tip: home members can open the lock from the app but cannot register a fingerprint or physical card. For fingerprint or card access, register them from the keypad (see Register users on the lock). And to give a guest or technician temporary access, temporary codes are the most practical option.
← Back to index

Smart Life · Step 5 of 5

How to add temporary codes for guests

Ideal for Airbnb, guests, technicians, cleaning staff or deliveries: generate a code that only works during the dates and times you set. The guest doesn’t need a Smart Life account — just the number.

Option A · Temporary code for a date range

  1. Open Smart Life, tap the E15 lock on the main screen.

  2. Go to the Password tab.

  3. Tap Add → Time-limited password.

  4. Write a name for the code (e.g. «Guest Garcia Nov 15–20»).

  5. Set the start date and time (e.g. Nov 15, 2:00 PM) and the end date and time (e.g. Nov 20, 11:00 AM).

  6. The app generates a 6 to 10-digit code. Tap Save.

  7. Share the code with the guest via WhatsApp, email or text message. It’s entered like a normal password + #.

Option B · One-time dynamic code

  1. Open Smart Life, tap the E15 lock.

  2. Go to Password.

  3. Tap Dynamic password.

  4. The app shows a 6-digit temporary code valid for ~5 minutes and for one use only.

  5. Share the code with the person (technician, delivery, one-time visitor).

  6. Entering the code + # opens the door once and then it expires.

Ideal for giving one-time access to someone who’s only entering once, without leaving permanent codes behind.

Option C · Recurring codes (regular staff)

  1. Open the lock in Smart Life → Password.

  2. Tap Permanent password or Custom password (depending on app version).

  3. Write a 6 to 10-digit code and a name (e.g. «Cleaning · Monday 9–12»).

  4. If the app allows it, set the days of the week and time window in which that code works.

  5. Save and share it with the person.

  6. You can delete the code at any time from the same menu.

Ideal for Airbnb / short-term rental: create a temporary code per booking with the exact check-in and check-out dates. When it’s over, the code expires on its own and you don’t need to go to the apartment to change it.
Remember: temporary codes only work while the lock is connected to Wi-Fi and synced with the app. If Wi-Fi goes down, the lock keeps working with codes already synced, but won’t receive new ones.
